How it Happens
Changemaker events are open to all students at Homerton. You can sign up for one, two or even all. There's no minimum requirement & no assessment: what you do get, however, are methods for improving academic performance, time to work out what you are passionate about, access to leading coaches and faculty, and real-world skill building: leadership, collaboration, presentation, self-awareness, EQ, thinking both deep and wide.
During each academic year we host workshops and seminars; virtual mini-residentials; a regular reading group PAUSE; mentoring and coaching schemes; and roundtable discussions with outstanding changemakers. Each year a group of Changemaker Ambassadors is appointed in Michaelmas, (open to anyone who has come to a Changemaker event): Ambassadors have access to bespoke training and mentoring, support with their own changemaking initiatives, and input into the governance processes of changemaker.
The programme is modular so you can dip in and out whenever and however you wish. And you can choose what to focus on - from social innovation and entrepreneurialism to systems thinking and tools for high-performance. Every element works to build your toolkit, heighten your understanding, and help you connect the personal to societal impact. It’s also a great way to work with people from other disciplines and year groups, and to extend your network of like-minded, visionary folks.
Changemakers draws on a network of brilliant innovators, academics, philanthropists, professionals, and entrepreneurs to offer the programme, building a courage-motivated community of people within college and beyond. Led by Dr Alison Wood (Director) Changemakers is supported by Dr Soraya Jones (Programme Lead), a Steering Group, the Changemakers Ambassadors and Academic Advisory.
